What is Art Licensing?
Art licensing is essentially renting artwork. You pay a fee to use a design for a specific product category, within a set timeframe, and in agreed territories.
What's a non-exclusive licence?
A non-exclusive licence means you can use the design for your products, but I may also license the same design to other companies at the same time.
What's an exclusive licence?
An exclusive licence means you have sole rights to use the design within the agreed category and region. I won't license that design to anyone else in that category during the licence period.
Do you offer buyouts?
Yes, full copyright buyouts can be discussed, but are priced significantly higher as I give up all rights to the artwork.Do you provide seamless repeats?Yes, my pattern designs repeat seamlessly on all four sides.
Can you provide layered artwork?Y
es - layered Al files are available if required. All designs are available in vector format.
Can I request colour changes?
Yes, colour edits can be arranged. These are quoted individually depending on the scope.
Who owns the copyright to the designs?
With the exception of a full buyout, I retain all copyright and ownership of artwork and elements of the artwork.
What happens when the licence ends?
You can choose to renew the licence. If not, the rights to use the design revert to me.
What formats do you provide?
High-resolution JPEGs or PNGs (300dpi). I can also provide layered Al files if needed. All, artwork is available in vector format.
Can I license multiple designs together?
Yes, if you'd like to license a collection of coordinating designs (typically 3-6 patterns), I'm open to negotiating a collection rate. In this case, each design would be licensed at the lower end of my pricing scale, making it a cost-effective way to launch a cohesive and professional product range.
